The Libertines ~ Main Stage

Overcoming early set jitters

A fully reformed Libertines ran through the gamut of their back catalogue on Friday evening at Leeds Festival, despite an early waiver of confidence from Pete Doherty.

Three songs in the group’s co-vocalist walked off stage after conversing with fellow singer Carl Barat, only to return shortly after. From then on it was relatively plain sailing for the much-loved London group, Barat in particular vigorously throwing himself into fan favourites ‘Can’t Stand Me Now,’ ‘Death On The Stairs’ and ‘Boys In The Band.’

Finishing with ‘What A Waster’ and ‘I Get Along’ from 2002’s Up The Bracket LP, the band eventually flounced off to a rapturous reception.

BBC Introducing Stage

Local Acts Come Up Trumps At Leeds

Away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger stages, Leeds Festival has proved its commitment to supporting local music all weekend, a perfect example of this being Halifax-based math-rock group Wot Gorilla?’s slot on the BBC Introducing Stage.

Curious souls woke up early to catch the midday set on a stage that has or will see other Yorkshire acts My Forever, Club Smith, Nerves and Sketches play. With recent Sheffield success stories Slow Club set to perform as part of record label Transgressive’s Alternative Stage curation, and Pulled Apart By Horses on the Festival Republic Stage, there’s been a distinctly local flavour to this behemoth-sized festival.

Weezer ~ Main Stage

Rivers runs riot

The stage couldn’t contain Rivers Cuomo as Weezer’s front man ran amok during his band’s early evening set on the Main Stage. Opting for a greatest hits set despite forthcoming album ‘Hurley’, the stalwart American rockers continued the good feeling left by previous act Cypress Hill, hits like ‘Hash Pipe,’ ‘Say It Ain’t So’ and ‘My Name Is Jonas’ bringing the crowd to rapture.

Throughout this Cuomo was everywhere, clambering over the side of the stage, running along the front barrier to dance with audience members and security alike and jumping up and down on his on a trampoline set up especially on stage. He also donned a blonde wig during a cover medley of MGMT’s ‘Kids’ and Lady GaGa’s ‘Pokerface’ before escaping the clutches of security and running out to the far end of the arena field during final song ‘Buddy Holly’ where he was soon joined by delighted fans.

The Rats ~ Lock Up Stage

Ratted Out the band draw a huge crowd

In what vocalist front man Frank Carter admitted was “one of the worst kept secrets of the festival,” Gallows performed a “surprise” late-afternoon slot on the Lock Up Stage to a crowd that spilled outside of the tent – in more ways than one.

Billed as The Rats, this pseudonym fooled no one and Gallows’ fans in their legions turned up to witness the London hardcore group rip their way through a forty minute set that at one point saw Carter demand the crowd form a circle pit stretching out and around the tent – to which the audience duly obliged!

Playing a set that spanned both their two LPs, Gallows finished with live staples ‘In The Belly Of a Shark’ and the title track from debut album ‘Orchestra Of Wolves,’ the latter seeing members of bands including Rolo Tomassi and Trash Talk take to the stage to sing the song’s finale.

The Joy Formidable ~ NME/Radio 1 Stage

Ritzy Bryan Attempts To Trash Guitar

The Joy Formidable’s Ritzy Bryan was in a destructive mood this lunchtime as her group played to the NME/Radio 1 Stage. During opener ‘Whirring,’ the lead singer made several attempts to break her guitar, hitting the axe vigorously against the stage floor to create a whirl of distortion and then shaking it by the strings.

Proving a sturdy tool however, the six-string refused to buckle and in the end made it safely into the hands of the stage crew as the band continued with a six song set that drew heavily from debut mini-album ‘A Balloon Called Whirring,’ with recent single ‘Popinjay’ the sole concession to an imminent new LP.

Arcade Fire ~ Main Stage

Closing the first night at Leeds

Friday night headliners Arcade Fire brought the first day of Leeds Festival to a rousing close on the Main Stage, confidently showcasing new album The Suburbs amongst a slew of older material.

Taking to the stage at 9:30pm, the Canadians pleased the crowd by including six songs from debut album Funeral, including encore 'Wake Up'.

Lead singer Win Butler was in an ebullient mood throughout, blowing kisses at the crowd and running through the photo pit after ‘Neighbourhood #3,’ just making it on stage in time for the opening lyric of ‘Rebellion (Lies).’

Of the newer songs, 'Sprawl II' gained the biggest reception, a glittery dress-clad Régine Chassagne taking over on vocals.

Get the crowd singing along

A warm summer’s afternoon it may have been, but The Futureheads were in no mood to let a generously sized Main Stage crowd lazily soak up the sun as they led their audience through what amounted to a greatest hits set.

Opening with ‘The Chaos,’ the title track from their latest album, the Sunderland four-piece orchestrated their crowd through a series of rhythmic hand claps and singing culminating in a two-part audience rendition of Kate Bush cover ‘Hounds Of Love.’ This was The Futureheads' second time on the Leeds Main Stage and fifth appearance at the festival overall.

South Londoner festival veterans The Maccabees wowed an energetic Main Stage crowd earlier this afternoon with a set that waved farewell to their latest album 'Wall of Arms'. Playing to an energetic crowd, the boys led by Orlando Weeks looked grateful as fans responded in riotous fashion to the likes of 'X-Ray' and 'First Love', as well as to new song 'Child' debuted this weekend.

Closing with the triplet of 'No Kind Words', 'Bag of Bones' and single 'Love You Better', Weeks blew kisses to the adoring crowd before he and his group marched triumphantly from the stage to continue work on their third record.

Traffic plan for local residents

Suggested travel routes during the festival

Wednesday 25th August to Monday 30th August 2010

The world famous Leeds Festival enters a new decade with the biggest names in music set to play at Bramham Park 27th – 28th August 2010. This incredible setting will once again host over 150 of the most acclaimed artists from across the globe earning Leeds its place as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll festivals in the world. The countdown to the August Bank Holiday Weekend starts here! Festival Republic, the organisers have been working together with all of the traffic agencies over the last nine months, to produce a traffic plan for this year’s festival.

The aim of the plan is to minimise disruption to local residents and on the road network. The police and the Highways Agency will be monitoring the festival route and working together to help avoid any congestion.

The routes to the festival will be well signed, are displayed on the Festival Republic website and these details have been sent out with each festival ticket.

This year the main routing is that traffic will be directed from the A1(M) to exit at Junction 45 (Boston Spa) and use the local access roads West Woods Road and Paradise Way to travel to the festival site.

An additional route will be available on Thursday 26 August, this is the busiest period for festival traffic. Festival traffic will use the A1(M) to Junction 44 (A64 junction) and then travel westbound towards Leeds using both lanes on a one-way system and turn right into the festival car parks, opposite the Dogs Trust.

To manage this additional route the A64 is being closed to all through traffic travelling eastbound from the Fox and Grapes public house on Thursday 26 August from 00:01 on Thursday 26 August until 05:00 on Friday 27 August.

Through traffic travelling from York to Leeds on the A64 will continue as normal, but drivers should be aware that queues are possible with festival traffic between the A1 (M) (J44) roundabout and the Fox and Grapes public house. Non-festival traffic may wish to consider alternative routes, or allow more time for their journey.

Bus routes on the A64 eastbound from Seacroft towards the A1 (M) roundabout will be diverted on Thursday 26 August. For up to date information, please contact Metro www.wymetro.com or telephone 0113 245 7676.

The roads and junctions that are likely to be much busier than normal, as a result of festival traffic from Wednesday 25 August to the afternoon of Friday 27 August are:

• A1 (M) northbound and southbound at Junction 45 (Boston Spa)
• Grange Moor roundabout
• Wattle Syke roundabout
• West Woods Road
• Tenter Hill
• Paradise Way

In addition to the above, on Thursday 26 August traffic on the following roads will also be busier than normal:

• A1 (M) at Junction 44 (A64)
• Bramham Interchange roundabout
• A64 westbound

On Monday 30 August, as festival attendees leave the site, all of the above routes will again be busier than normal but queuing should not be as significant.

Drivers are strongly advised to use alternative routes wherever possible and avoid the above areas or, if unavoidable, to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys.

OTHER TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

The following temporary traffic orders are in place as part of the overall traffic plan:

Kiddal Lane and Potterton Lane
Kiddal Lane will be closed at the junction with the A64 / York Road, and Potterton Lane will be closed at the junction with Kiddal Lane from 8am Wednesday 25 August to 5pm Monday 30 August

Access will of course be maintained for local residents.

Aberford Road / junction with A64
Aberford Road and the A64 junction will be closed for Thursday 26 August only during the period of the A64 eastbound closure.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

On Thursday 26 August those drivers who normally use the A64 eastbound are advised to use the following alternative routes to avoid the majority of festival traffic:

• Ring Road to M1 Junction 46, north to the A1(M) and then take A64 towards York
• Ring Road to A58, to Jct 46 of the A1 (M), south on the A1(M) and then take A64 towards York
• East Leeds Link (A63) to M1, north to the A1(M) and then take A64 towards York
• M621 to M1, north to the A1(M) and then take A64 towards York

Win your very own Reading or Leeds single-speed bike!

14 Bikes Competition at Reading & Leeds

Two bikes were up for grabs from 14BikeCo, the cyclist’s bike shop of choice.

Neil from Stoke on Trent was our lucky winner!

Being the proud owner of a Reading or a Leeds single-speed bike you can be safe in the knowledge that this bike is every inch as green as you will be when you cycle around. Being single-speed, fewer materials are used which is therefore less damaging to the environment during production.

Riding your bike to the festival will obviously put out the least amount of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. To get in gear and read more about this and how you can get green – go to the Travel page for more details

Today, most bikes are little more than a variation on a theme. They come in boxes from factories in the Far East, and when they get to the shop, the handlebars are straightened, the tyres are pumped up, the pedals are fitted and they go onto the sales floor. They’re made to sell, not to inspire. 14 Bike Co was founded by Duncan McNamara and John Wainwright to offer riders, both new and experienced, a different way to get on a bike. The bike frames are exclusively made in Britain, from British steel and using construction techniques that have been perfected over decades. 14 Bike Co are helping to reintroduce the concept of hand made, lightweight, durable – and above all enjoyable – bikes.

ROAD DIRECTIONS TO THE FESTIVAL AND HANDY SUGGESTIONS

Please travel to the A1, M1 or the A1 (M) whether you are coming from the north, south, east or west and then follow the signs from the motorway. All routes to Leeds Festival start from the A1 (M).

Please note that the junction numbers on the A1 (M) that we are using changed a few months ago and online / printed maps, and sat nav systems may not yet reflect the correct junction numbering on the ground so follow the signage on the routes rather than check against a map. If you ignore the signage or the routes, by checking on a map, or using your sat nav, you will not be able to get to site. Not only will these routes not lead you to the festival gates, but they may well lead you to a road block. You won’t save any time at all and you will also threaten the success of the plan as a whole.

Remember that traffic levels on the routes to the festival will be heavy, so please act responsibly and drive very carefully and safely.

Please travel at a safe but reasonable speed. If every car hesitates or holds up the traffic for one more minute than is necessary, it would take us nearly a fortnight to get you all in. The volume of cars attending Leeds Festival means that the success of the plan relies on each of you helping us so please – follow the signs from the motorway, do not stop on the roads, park as directed and most of all travel to the festival safely. The access roads have temporary “no stopping” traffic orders on them and the police will be enforcing this. Remember to use the toilet before you get near the site and please respect the environment and don’t drop litter on your way to or from the festival.

FROM A1 COMING FROM THE SOUTH:
The route to the festival will be signposted from Junction 35 northbound

FROM M1 COMING FROM THE SOUTH:
The route to the festival will be signposted from Junction 32 northbound

FROM M62 COMING FROM THE EAST:
The route to the festival will be signed from Junction 33 westbound

FROM M62 COMING FROM THE WEST:
The route to the festival will be signed from Junction 29 eastbound

FROM A1/ A1(M) COMING FROM THE NORTH:
The route to the festival will be signed from Junction 46 southbound

Once onsite, please follow the instructions of the traffic marshals and park where they direct you to park. You can get to all of the campsites from all of the car parks. The car parks are filled in a particular order to maximise the volume of cars coming into site at peak periods. If you arrive via Brown Gate it does not follow at all that you will be parked in the Brown car parks. It completely depends on your time of arrival. So if you have been before, don’t try and head for a favourite parking space, but follow the directions of the marshals. All of the car parks are within reasonable reach of a campsite gate.

If you are dropping someone off or picking someone up, please again follow the signage from the A1 (M) and then pick up the drop off signage once you have left the A1 (M).

Have a safe journey AND ENJOY THE FESTIVAL!

Additions to The Alternative Stage, free downloads and more

Plus the Relentless Energy Stage and Gaymers' Lost In The Orchard

The final preparations are being made for the greatest festival in the world, the legendary Reading and Leeds Festival. The bands are getting set to play to the best audiences of the summer and lots of other activities are being lined up at both sites to keep everybody entertained.

THE ALTERNATIVE STAGE

Comedy on the Alternative Stage:

Best know for his hysterical appearances as burger van owner ANGELOS EPITHEMIOU on the TV series Shooting Stars; this is actually just one creation of the talented comedian Renton Skinner. He has appeared on radio, TV and film as a comedian and actor, performed stand up and written for various shows. We can only pray he brings along his ‘bag’ to show us what’s in it.

Described as the bad boy of comedy and nominated for Chortle’s Best Headliner category at this year’s awards, ANDREW LAWRENCE brings his sick and twisted humour to the festival. With previous shows titled "How to Butcher your Loved Ones" and "Social Leprosy For Beginners & Improvers", don’t expect gentle humour, it would be gross if he wasn’t so funny.
www.andrewlawrencecomedy.co.uk

As seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Mock The Week, TOM STADE brings his magnetic stage presence and distinctive laid back style to Reading and Leeds Festivals. In demand around the globe, this clever and controversial Canadian is not to be missed.
www.myspace.com/tomstadecomedian

Recognisable as the face of BBC’s Switch, TOM DEACON is one of comedy’s bright new hopes. The 24 year old host of a regular Radio 1 show on Sunday evenings made his solo debut at last year's Edinburgh Festival having previously stared in the Fringe's longest running group comedy show 'The Comedy Zone' and, despite his relative youth is already an award-winning stand up.
www.myspace.com/tomdeaconcomedy

Described as the “comedian’s comedian”, MARTIN MOR has been entertaining for years, first as multi talented performer in the circus until injury curtailed that path. Since when he has written and warmed up for anyone you’d care to mention. Oh, and his picture has adorned the Trivial Pursuit board game (!)
www.myspace.com/martinbigpig

Nominated for last year’s Chortle Awards, heavy metal fan ANDREW O’NEILL has brought his own unique brand of occult comedy to the Edinburgh festival over the past six years and is a vegan to boot. He is not a Goth!
www.andrewoneill.co.uk/

Famed as one half of the Eighties comedy duo Skint Video, STEVE GRIBBIN has established himself as one of the stalwarts on the comedy circuit and since going solo in the early nineties has performed almost annually at Reading/Leeds festivals.
www.stevegribbin.com/

Bristol based comedian MARK OLVER has not updated his website for a while as he’s too busy doing stand up around the country and his warm up acts on TV (including Deal or No Deal, so be sure to ask him to show you his box). When he’s not doing that he’s catching up on The Wire.
http://markolver.com

Time Out Magazine once described STEPHEN GRANT as “Britain’s best comedy compere and odd job man” and he’s also been said to be the hardest working comedian in the country. A regular at the infamous Komedia clubs he’s been gaining fans wherever he goes for over a decade now.
www.stephengrant.com

Despite only being on the scene for just two years JOSH WIDDICOMBE has already made quite a name for himself and picked up some tasty reviews, award nominations and written for some cool TV such as 8 out of 10 Cats and Mock The Week.
www.offthekerb.co.uk/josh-widdicombe

MATT ABBOTT used to be better known as Skint and Demoralised but is now goes by his real name. He is a spoken word/lyricist from Yorkshire who garnered great reviews and lots of national radio when he first broke through in 2009. His latest album is called ‘Love and Other Catastrophes’, make sure you catch him performing at Leeds this year.
Oxfam at Leeds

Climate change costs lives. Demand a fair deal here and now.

Join our show of hands and demand a fair deal!

Throughout the summer, Oxfam will be asking for a show of hands from thousands of music fans, all ready to get some ink in the name of poverty.

Show true support for Humankind by getting our rock and roll FAIR DEAL knuckle tattoo, having your photo taken, and joining a global movement of people who want those in poverty to be treated fairly in the face of climate change. Find our more than willing tattoo artists (don’t worry, it’s quick and painless!) around the festival site and in waiting at the Oxfam Festival Shop. Once there, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to get creative and customise your own FAIR DEAL T-Shirt. Our shop caters for every taste; from wedding dresses, ponchos, hats and wellies, to complete hippy, disco and punk rock outfits, and all at bargain prices. There’s a photo booth too, so you can capture your festival fashion moment and help make a difference at the same time. So turn up, join in and have fun!

Following the success of 2009’s festival season, which saw 30,000 people at festivals paint themselves blue to join Oxfam’s climate change campaign, the charity is asking tens of thousands of festival-goers to call for a fair deal on climate change this year.

Campaigning

Oxfam will be asking festival-goers at ten festivals this summer – including Glastonbury – to show their support by getting a ‘Fair Deal’ washable tattoo and joining a global movement of people who want those in poverty to be treated fairly in the face of climate change.

Since 1993 Oxfam has signed up the support of more than half a million people for their campaigns at festivals, tackling everything from global trade to climate change in the process.

Festival shop

Oxfam is the only high street retail brand with a festival shop. Over the past 16 years, Oxfam has raised £650,000 through its festival shops.

This year, shoppers will also have the chance to get their Fair Deal henna tattoo at the Oxfam Festival Shop. Once there, they’ll have the perfect opportunity to get creative and customise their own Fair Deal T-shirt.

• In 2009 the Oxfam festival shop made £130,000, more than double what it raised in the previous festival season, including a record-breaking high of £32,000 at Leeds festival.
• Popular items are the colourful blankets knitted by volunteers to raise awareness of Oxfam’s maternal mortality campaign. Waterproofs, wellies and warm jumpers sold very well, as did sparkley tops, glamorous frocks and fake furs.

The Oxfam Festival Shop caters for every taste; from wedding dresses, ponchos, hats and suits, to complete hippy, disco and punk rock outfits. The shop is always well stocked with festival essentials to survive whatever the British weather decides to do, such as knitted blankets, sleeping bags and warm coats or raincoats and wellies or sun hats, sunglasses and sun dresses.

There’ll be a fancy dress photo booth too, so people can choose a wacky outfit from a fancy dress selection from across the decades, or simply capture their own festival fashion moment. With the wonders of technology in a festival field, festival-goers can upload their festival photo to their Facebook page there and then.

Stewarding

Oxfam heads back to Leeds for the 11th time this year and will be bringing with them over 500 volunteer stewards and shop staff.

Stewarding

Oxfam provides volunteer stewards for many of the major music festivals across the UK, including RockNess, Glastonbury, WOMAD, Latitude, Bestival and of course Leeds and Reading. Stewarding with Oxfam is a great way to see the festival from a different side, make new friends and at the same time helping Oxfam to fight poverty.

This year at Leeds, we will have just 500 stewards working throughout the arena, at the gates and at other strategic locations around the site. Stewarding generated £1.1 million for Oxfam in 2009, for more information head to www.oxfam.org.uk/stewards.

BBC Introducing Stage Announced

Chosen through a combination of BBC’s countrywide Introducing shows, Leeds promoters Futuresound and festival promoters Festival Republic

This is where the very best brand new talent from the UK gets its first chance to appear in front of the greatest tastemakers in the country – the audience at Reading and Leeds Festivals. This is the third year both sites have enjoyed this popular stage.

The bands that play are chosen through a combination of the BBC’s countrywide Introducing shows, Leeds promoters Futuresound and festival promoters Festival Republic. In the past the likes of Everything Everything, General Fiasco, Pulled Apart My Horses and Goldheart Assembly have made their debuts at Reading and Leeds on this stage and gone onto great things.
We are very proud to also welcome the return of the DANCE TO THE RADIO STAGE which acts as the official warm up for the crowds at Leeds on the Thursday night. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. Chickenhawk, Bear In Heaven, Spectrals and The Neat (another act who started out on the BBC Introducing Stage last year) will kick things off at the greatest rock and roll event of the year. With all stages now announced (Main, NME/Radio 1, Lock Up/Dance, Festival Republic and Alternative) the countdown begins with less than a month to go.

This year, the BBC Introducing stage will host:

Amy's Ghost, Arcs And Trauma, Blacklisters, Club Smith, End Of Level Baddie, Exit International, G.A.N.G., Gallops, Kverlertak, Lady Fortune, Lafaro, Little Fish, Love Ends Disaster, Midi Midis, Motion Picture Soundtrack, Mr Fogg, My Forever, Nerves, Our Fold, Peers, Penguin,Reaper In Sicily, Redtrack, Rotating Leslie, Runaround Kids, Shockparade, Sketches, Soul Circus, Stagecoach, The Brilliant Things, The Invasion Of, The Law, The Mighty Stef, We’re Only Afraid Of NYC, Wilder, Wot Gorilla
The Alternative Stage

Emo Philips, Jason Byrne, Stephen K.Amos, Kevin Bridges, Russell Kane and Rufus Hound

With five stages full of the biggest artists in the world and the best music you can hear, the Reading and Leeds Festival provides something for everybody, but if you are looking for a break from the tunes fear not, as the ALTERNATIVE STAGE hosts the finest names in comedy, performance art, cabaret, film and plenty to keep you dancing after the main stages have closed for the night.

The headliners of this stage are as ever, some of the funniest comedians in the world – EMO PHILIPS, JASON BYRNE, STEPHEN K AMOS, KEVIN BRIDGES, RUSSELL KANE and RUFUS HOUND are set to perform at both sites and each bring their inimitable and unique brand of humour. They are joined by a mix of the best established and new names on the block.

Between the laughs there will also be some amazing artists appearing including human beatbox supremo BEARDYMAN, the lyrical talents of rappers RINSE, WARIKO and AFRIKANBOY and indie superstar EDDIE ARGOS.

Later in the day, the Alternative Stage shows films for those wanting to relax before the club action starts. Needless to say, this is where the ravers and rockers unite to dance until 2.30am with the coolest DJ’s, so save some energy till the wee hours. SMASH N GRAB, SWAP-A-RAMA, REBEL BINGO, DJ GOLDIEROCKS and TRANSGRESSIVE RECORDS will all host nights to round off your festival.

2010 marks the fourth year of label/promoters/publishers/managers Transgressive's presence at Leeds Festival.

The format is the same each year - audio-visual treats and the best new emerging acts performing intimate shows on the closing night of the festival, from a mixture of Transgressive acts and our friends... We're trying to make it a proper closing night hurrah for those that still have the will and spirit to party very, very hard, carrying long into the night after the headliners have finished on the other stages.

Prior acts to have graced our stage in recent years include Leeds' own hometown heroes Pulled Apart by Horses, Two Door Cinema Club, Future of the Left, Young Knives, Noah & The Whale, Laura Marling, and many more besides. This time, however, we reckon we've got our best line-up yet - the evening is headlined by an exclusive, centrepiece performance from Everything Everything, with other acts including manic electronic duo Chew Lips, youthful wizard pop from Egyptian Hip Hop, uplifting soulful pop gems courtesy of Slow Club, and, of course, a 22-piece-all-girl-dubstep-pop-choir in Gaggle.

In between all the live action, Transgressive and Rockfeedback DJs will play big and cool tunes in equal measure, whilst we welcome back both Two Door Cinema Club and Pulled Apart by Horses this year to take part in a 'versus' dual on the decks. Who the hell will win? Stay up late with us and find out.

The BBC Introducing Stage is still to be announced, which will be the sixth and final stage.Tickets for this event are now sold out.

Support 10:10 at Leeds Festival

Leeds Festival is pleased to be working alongside with 10:10 to reduce the carbon footprint of Leeds Festival by 10% through efficiency in onsite energy use, waste and water consumption.

By switching to cleaner sources of energy, we are able to reduce carbon emissions and still power the stages, speakers and refreshment stands that make Leeds such a great Festival.

Our ongoing efforts to reduce landfill waste and ensure minimal impact on the environment include zero waste campaigning, reducing material use, comprehensive recycling, switching to biodegradable materials and composting them as well as collecting re-usable goods for charity.

Working alongside, Leeds Festival, Julie’s Bicycle and 10:10 look forward to seeing you onsite and enjoying an amazing weekend, and receiving your pledge to support our efforts at www.1010uk.org.
One of the most popular stages at the festival, The Lock Up Stage bill has finally been revealed.

Headlined by Alkaline Trio and Bad Religion, there are plenty of old and new faces for fans.

Friday 27th August
Bad Religion, The Get Up Kids, Cancer Bats, Zebrahead, Trash Talk, The Rats, Paint It Black, Off With Their Heads, Random Hand and Moral Dilemma.

Sunday 29th August
Alkaline Trio, Sick Of It All, Against Me!, Hatebreed, Streetlight Manifesto, Strike Anywhere, This Is Hell, Static Thought, Civet, The Skints, Crazy Arm and Blood Or Whiskey.

The Lock-Up Stage returns to the twin sites for another two days that are sure to see huge crowds from start to finish.

A well loved permanent fixture of Reading and Leeds, The Lock-Up Stage always delivers a host of top names in their genres year on year and this time is no exception with two classic headliners at the front of a bill that is a run down of the best punk, hardcore, ska and rock ‘n’ roll names you could hope to see.

“The highlight of my year is always Reading and Leeds. It's the perfect way to end the summer. To be able to be a part of it and have a stage there still blows my mind. We've worked long and we've worked hard to come up with a bill that everyone will enjoy and I think we've done a great job. If you're a fan of punk rock, hardcore, ska and rock'n'roll then you're going to want to get to the tent early and be prepared to spend the whole day/night there. That's how good a line-up it is.” MIKE DAVIES, THE LOCK-UP, RADIO 1
Beware of touts

Do not buy from tout websites.

There are a number of websites out there that sell fake tickets or sell tickets that don't even exist and you'll only find out when it's too late.

There are also others claiming to have free tickets as part of a giveaway / competition - this is just a scam to collect your personal data. Please be aware and DO NOT click on any of their links or give away any personal data. We are not in any way affiliated with them.

SafeConcerts.com is an independent website and has no commercial connection with Festival Republic. For a totally independent check on ticket agents please check on the Safe Concert’s Ticket safe section.

It contains a list of independently and impartially researched primary and secondary ticket agents and customer reviews. www.safeconcerts.com/tickets/

You can also read the information below on what to do if you have attempted to buy a ticket from them.

Beware of unauthorised ticket agencies including eBay, buying from them can be a lot of trouble - You are likely to pay over the odds for a ticket that will have never existed or might never materialise.

We are currently looking into companies selling 'touted' tickets and we are doing what we can to stop fraudulent activity.

FURTHER INFORMATION & CONTACTS:
If you feel a victim of these companies we suggest a number of actions:

1.Call the police; if your money has been taken and no product delivered, this is theft.
2.Report the company to the Trading Standards
3.Contact the BBC's watchdog programme
4.Contact the websites' Internet Service Providers as they have obligations to ensure they are not publishing fraudulent and illegal activity.

The Green Tent Company

Environmentally and festival friendly

Here at Leeds Festival we are very excited to announce the arrival of THE GREEN TENT COMPANY.

Each year we are faced with the mammoth task of cleaning up the fields which are usually strewn with huge amounts of used camping equipment including TENTS, SLEEPING BAGS and CAMPING MATS.

Until now we have only been able to work with charities in the main to collect good equipment and a vast majority of the remainder end up going straight to LANDFILL because a traditional tent is made up of many different components such as FIBRE GLASS POLES, NYLON ZIPS and METAL PEGS which makes them un-economical to separate for recycling.

We are working closely with THE GREEN TENT COMPANY who are the first company in the world to design a stylish, competitively priced tent range made solely from ONE PRODUCT and incorporating a new peg system which prevents them from being left in the ground all with one focus of being environmentally and festival friendly.

Their ground breaking range starts with a 2 man dome tent and is topped by a deluxe 6 man, 3 bedroom version which is tall enough to stand up in.They have even manufactured their SLEEPING BAGS and CAMPING MATS from the same single product making them more festival friendly.

So if you’re going to be purchasing a new tent for this year’s Leeds festival please visit www.thegreententcompany.co.uk and help us to reduce our carbon footprint, thus SAVING THE PLANET.

Click here for more information and to buy a Green Tent
