Architects and The Blackout open the Main Stage
Leeds woke up to a thankfully sunny morning
Our golden friend in the sky fighting hard against the grey clouds that were still lurking ominously around.
The worst of the weather would appear to be over though, and buoyed by the improved turn of events Architects and The Blackout sought to raise the Main Stage crowd from their morning hangovers with a couple of blistering sets to herald the start of a rock-heavy bill.
With My Chemical Romance headlining, and festival veterans The Offspring and Deftones also scheduled to play today, both Architects and The Blackout knew they had stern competition to battle. The pair more than proved their worth however, the former mining tracks from both this year’s LP ‘The Here And Now’ and their back catalogue, while Wales’ The Blackout more than cemented their continuing ascent with a set that harked back to the days of fellow countrymen Lostprophets classic Leeds performances, singer Sean Smith throwing himself into the crowd at the earliest possible opportunity and fuelling his group’s high octane half an hour.
With another eight hours of crunching riffery yet to come, it’s fair to say that the Leeds audience is fully preparing itself for a day of getting utterly rocked.
